39-week update

How far along: 39 weeks – now truly full-term!

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: Blood sugars seem to be back in range. Everybody seems surprised that I managed to stay off insulin, though I will admit sticking to the diet has been tougher lately. I am really missing my carbs 😦

Baby is the size of: a mini watermelon

Belly pictures: She’s definitely dropping some more, though I still don’t feel much pelvic pressure, just a more frequent need to pee.

Total weight gain: Totally don’t understand my body – down a pound from last week, so just over 14 pounds up from pre-fertility treatment. Granted, my pre-fertility weight was about 5 pounds more than my previous steady weight when I exercised quite a bit, but I still feel a little weird looking at that number. Again, baby girl seems to be growing just fine, so I try not to stress about it.

Stretch marks: Nada!

Sleep: I’m able to get back to sleep after the 5am bathroom trip, but it’s fitful and I keep waking up every hour after that. Hoping for better sleep now that I feel like the house is pretty much ready. Hubby and I are also switching our usual sides for the first time tonight, to accommodate the location of the pack & play. Hopefully I settle easily with this!

Symptoms/Feeling: Still with constipation, I went ahead and took a Docusate tonight. And today was the first day where my back and hips bothered me all day without any break. I was extremely productive this week with my continuing education, renewing my professional license, and cleaning around the house, so I’m finally feeling like I’m ready for her to come, whenever she decides that will be! Also noticed some foot swelling today, my usually comfy soft flats were squishing my feet at dinner today. Guess I’m sticking to flip flops from here on out!

Our friends that were due 2 days before us delivered 2 days ago, so I’m now officially the last one standing out of 4 of us that were due this month (the other 2 delivered in April). I really do feel like a ticking bomb now, and have to remember to carry my phone with me even if I’m just walking the dogs near home.

Best moment of this week: Finishing the nursery, for sure! Closely followed by having baby girl’s godmother stay with us – we completed all the big to-do’s I had on my list, and it was so good to see her again. Now if baby girl will arrive in 2 days on her godmother’s birthday, that would thrill all of us!

Miss anything: Good sleep. And still a big hunk of French bread, raw tuna, and I think I finally settled on what I want to eat post-delivery – a generous slice of chocolate dobash cake from a local bakery!

Movement: Lots of stretching and hiccups, she’s definitely out of room!

Food cravings: See above. It’s been hard eating full meals lately, I get full way too quickly!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week!

Labor signs: Just the more frequent Braxton-Hicks, though they definitely correlate more with when I’m physically active with the cleaning and nesting. Otherwise, nothing different so far.

Belly button in or out: Currently flat with a bit of indentation, other times it pops out more.

Wedding rings on or off: They’re on and still pretty loose.

Happy or moody most of the time: Mostly happy, though the moodiness creeps in when I’m due to eat or my back is really bothering me.

Purchases/preparations for baby: I can’t believe people are still sending clothes for her – agggghhhh! Going to be making some returns tomorrow again. Otherwise, it looks like we are finally all set, after I rearranged our bedroom to get the pack & play situated next to me. Pump parts are sterilized or cleaned and ready for use, and I may test it out this weekend to see if I can stimulate labor if I don’t start on my own by then. The house is also de-cluttered and organized for the first time since we moved in almost 3 years ago, with the last bit of craziness restricted to essentially a giant walk-in closet now. We’ll see if I feel like dealing with that tomorrow, in between baking myself lactation cookies. Hubby did finally pack his hospital bag over the weekend as well, so now we just wait…

Looking forward to: MEETING BABY GIRL!!! 😀

38-week update

How far along: 38 weeks – can’t believe it!

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: Blood sugars were all great this week, except just now I had a super high one after dinner – think I didn’t space out my snack and meal very well. Should hopefully be better the next few nights. In any case, too late for insulin now!

Baby is the size of: a celery bunch

Belly pictures: I think she’s dropped a bit! My ribs and chest don’t ache quite as much.

Total weight gain: I’m ready to throw out my scale, except my weight at the doctor’s also showed that I’m down 2.8 lbs from last week?? So up just over 15 lbs from pre-fertility weight. I really don’t get it…

Stretch marks: Nothing at all, even my OB commented on this! Looks like I’m taking after my mom.

Sleep: I need to force myself to go to bed earlier, because the 5am bathroom trip followed by not being able to fall back asleep pattern is holding steady. I suppose it could be worse and I could be getting up multiple times, but I think that’s only because I go to bed much too late 😛

Symptoms/Feeling: Constipation, back and hip pain – my prenatal massage today was very much needed! And I’m torn – on one hand, I want to meet baby girl ASAP, on the other, I feel like I need at least another week to get everything squared away at home, not to mention try and get some continuing education hours under my belt so I can renew my professional license next month. Eeks!

Best moment of this week: Always good to get a peek at baby girl on ultrasound, even though she just looks very smushed now. We also enjoyed ourselves at the family Mother’s Day celebration over the weekend.

Miss anything: A good piece of French bread with lots of butter. Raw tuna. Sleeping in until 7am (which will not happen again for YEARS).

Movement: She’s still stretching and pushing herself around in there, and thankfully still in optimal birthing position. I recorded some video the other night of her antics to show hubby, was pretty crazy how obvious her movements and body parts are now!

Food cravings: See above… not too long now until I can indulge in my carbs again!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week!

Labor signs: I had some more frequent Braxton-Hicks yesterday, but today was better probably because I pushed myself to really drink water. I get so caught up with nesting at home that time flies by and I realize I haven’t eaten my requisite every-3-hour meal/snack or had enough water. OB still hasn’t checked me internally but the plan is to do so at my next appointment Monday, so we’ll see. Right now, I’m predicting Memorial Day weekend for D-day!

Belly button in or out: Still changes throughout the day, so I don’t think it will ever fully pop out.

Wedding rings on or off: They’re on and loose!

Happy or moody most of the time: Still generally happy, though little things do tend to irritate me more than I’d expect.

Purchases/preparations for baby: My hospital bag is packed, hubby is on his own though I did make sure to include some snacks for him in my bag. I’ve posted some of the other small projects I worked on in the last week earlier, and hoping to be done with what I can do in the nursery tomorrow. Today I focused on getting the kitchen organized since we need to make room for bottles and other baby feeding supplies. By the time I was done, I’d collected 3 grocery bags full of expired meds and old batteries, so looks like I’ll be taking them in to the hazardous waste center this weekend. But now it’s much easier to find and reach everything in our deep cupboards, will just need to break out the label maker later!

I also attended a babywearing workshop tonight, which was really helpful because I was completely confused by the Baby K’tan carrier we received and reading the instructions wasn’t helpful with pregnancy brain. With the facilitator’s help, I was able to successfully place the baby doll in and take it out – my terror at dropping baby girl the first time has now abated! Also learned about all the various carrier types, which is good since the K’tan will only last us the first couple months really. We also have a soft-structured carrier (Beco Gemini), but it’s not so great for newborn use, and we’ll see how I like it in a few months. I may be on the hunt for a ring sling just for its simplicity.

Looking forward to: Finishing up the nursery soon, and baby girl’s godmother coming to visit next week, to help me finish cleaning and organizing the rest of the house! We are so fortunate to have such good friends – she completely volunteered to do this. What will be really interesting is to see if baby girl decides to come out on her godmother’s birthday in 9 days – she would be over the moon if that happened 🙂

37-week update

How far along: 37 weeks – and just like that, I’m full-term. OMG, why is the nursery still a hot mess??

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: Blood sugars are still holding steady, and I remain off insulin!

Baby is the size of: a leek

Belly pictures: One of my favorite work dresses, it’s super comfortable and the neckline is also very stretchy for nursing.

Total weight gain: Down 1 lb from last week – uhhh, I guess the Squatty Potty is really helping me 😛 Up 18 lbs from pre-fertility weight – I was a little concerned about the lack of weight gain for the last few months, but the docs are happy with baby girl’s growth and that’s what matters! I also learned my mom only gained 15 lbs or so with me, so I guess it runs in the family.

Stretch marks: Nothing, though the skin on my belly is definitely sensitive, and the linea nigra keeps getting darker. I understand this will fade but may never completely disappear, eeks!

Sleep: A little better since starting maternity leave and getting my charts done, but I still can’t fall back asleep after I wake up to pee around 5-6am. Baby girl also likes to kick me quite a bit around this time, so I guess I’m getting a preview of what her early morning schedule will be like.

Symptoms/Feeling: Still the constipation and occasional hip pain, but not as bad as I’ve heard many describe – I feel really fortunate symptom-wise this late in the game. I definitely have more energy back now that I’m off work. Unfortunately I’m procrastinating and putting forth that energy into other things like shopping and meeting up with friends, rather than tackle the giant elephant in the room – the nursery. My schedule definitely eases up tomorrow though, so no excuses then!

Best moment of this week: Ahhhh, so much this week! Starting maternity leave, our date night, and of course seeing baby girl at my prenatal appointment.

Miss anything: If somebody could turn back the clock and get rid of the stairs in my house that slow my nesting progress, I would be eternally grateful!

Movement: Yup, lots of kicks and jabs going on that are almost always visible from the outside. I also feel a lot of hiccups on my lower left side.

Food cravings: Chocolate! I indulged at Target and bought a bag of Dove dark chocolate – one piece when I need to satisfy that craving seems to do the trick, and shouldn’t make my sugars spike too much.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still some heartburn, especially when I eat a lot.

Labor signs: I do feel the occasional Braxton-Hicks, and yesterday my prenatal yoga teacher commented that baby girl seemed to have dropped a bit. I don’t think I have because I definitely still feel a lot of pressure on my diaphragm, especially on the right where her feet are jammed in. Hoping that she stays in for at least another 2 weeks! I feel like I need that time to get the house more presentable.

Belly button in or out:  Still just a bit of bulge around the edges, and changes with her positioning.

Wedding rings on or off: I still wear them, and they came off easily for my manicure today – last mani/pedi for a while!

Happy or moody most of the time: So happy to be on maternity leave! I dropped by clinic today to leave a Nurse’s Appreciation Week gift for my nurse, and my colleague looked very frazzled. I felt bad, but hey, I put in my time through 2 other paternity/maternity leaves in the last few years, it’s my turn now. I am starting to get a bit moodier with hubby – he had said he would be at home more these last few weeks as we approached the due date, but that is definitely not the case as he tries to get as much done at work as possible before baby girl makes her appearance.

Purchases/preparations for baby: We met with the lawyer last weekend, and I’m done with my portion of the paperwork, but still need hubby to fill in a lot of blanks so I can get this sent off to her. Hubby’s long days at work are also the main reason why not much has been done in the nursery. I did some heavy lifting yesterday that I would’ve much preferred he do, but I had no choice as I need to get that room emptied out so I can start sorting and organizing! I did as many small projects as I could earlier this week – ordered or picked up stuff we still needed off registries, packed my hospital bag (other than a swaddle blanket since I need to wash the baby laundry), and made myself postpartum padsicles. After I finish this post and eat dinner, I plan on holing up in the nursery all night until it’s time for bed!

Looking forward to: Getting the nursery set up and some baby laundry done! We are also headed to hubby’s family’s Mother’s Day celebration this weekend, which is always a big deal because it falls close to his grandmother’s birthday. She is definitely slowing down now, and I can’t wait to put her first great-granddaughter in her arms in a few weeks!

36-week update

How far along: 36 weeks – just 4 weeks left, starting to panic a bit!

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: It’s been a good week for my blood sugars, even with eating out a couple times. Hoping it stays that way!

Baby is the size of: a coconut

Belly pictures: Yet another dress from my favorite line – this one I’ve had for over a year now, love how forgiving the fit and draping are!

Total weight gain: Up 1.2 lbs in the last week, now 19 lbs up from pre-fertility treatment weight.

Stretch marks: None that I can see, but let’s face it, I can’t see the underside of my belly that well.

Sleep: Yeah, still not getting enough, and you don’t want to know how behind I am on charts… I attempted to sleep on the glider one night but ended up with a sore tailbone, so back to the inclined bound angle pose without the binding.

Symptoms/Feeling: Fatigue hitting me throughout the day, and it doesn’t help that work hasn’t slowed down one bit. And may need to break down and start taking Colace for the constipation – it’s just really bad now. Starting to feel more pressure upwards on my diaphragm, which I’ll accept for now since at least I can still walk without waddling.

Best moment of this week: My nurses threw me a lovely baby shower at work yesterday. It was filled with delicious food and fun, AND efficient – who says you can’t throw a great party in just an hour?? I was also super touched by the generosity of all the clinic people, ended up with a significant gift card to Target!

Miss anything: This whole running out of time thing is getting old…

Movement: Still active as ever, and unfortunately she seems to have developed a liking for jabbing me in the right hip now.

Food cravings: I let myself have 2 cupcakes from the shower yesterday for my bedtime snack. And I found some dark chocolate from Trader Joe’s that I can eat – comes in small wedges so satisfies my chocolate craving without spiking my sugar up.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Just some heartburn if I’m not careful with sitting upright after eating.

Labor signs: The occasional Braxton-Hicks, especially when I’m running around in clinic. They go away when I sit and make sure to drink lots of water.

Belly button in or out:  Still looks like a small volcano, really wondering if it’ll ever fully flatten out. Time will tell!

Wedding rings on or off: On and loose, crazily enough. My massage therapist said I have just trace of swelling around my ankles today, but that seems to be it. Am I really going to be one of those women who gets away with no swelling at all?

Happy or moody most of the time: OK, after being pretty happy and upbeat throughout most of this pregnancy, in spite of all the tears and shots and procedures it took to get here, I’m finally getting moody. I’m much more impatient with patients’ parents who show up late, then proceed to want to chat me up about my pregnancy while I’m trying to see their child in a timely fashion. When I do finally get a chance to sit down, I’m bombarded by forms and messages galore. At least we’ve hired somebody to replace my colleague, so all those crazy interviews are done with. I had a great annual review with my chief yesterday, other than all of my delinquent charts. She seemed to have confidence that I’d get them done before I start leave, but I know I will be plugging away through this weekend to get them done!

Purchases/preparations for baby: We attended the Baby 101 class, which despite my profession, I did learn a few useful things. Found a bunch of great nearly new/brand new clothing items at the tent sale too – a dozen items for <$25! I also went ahead and ordered everything left on our registry that we really needed yesterday, so am preparing for the onslaught of more packages on our doorstep. I also wanted to set up an appointment with our local highway patrol to get our car seat checked once we install it – but they’re booked out for a month! So did some searching on Yelp and found a full mobile installation/teaching service. It’s obviously not free, but at this point with how little time we have left, and hubby busy at work as ever, I’m just sucking up the cost. Worth it for peace of mind. We are also meeting with a lawyer this weekend to work on estate planning and drawing up a will. Eeps.

Looking forward to: LAST DAY OF WORK TOMORROW!! Also, I took my last pre-baby aerial yoga class tonight, and will have my last SUP yoga class this Sunday, followed by my last float session.

35-week update

How far along: 35 weeks – if I go into labor now, the OB won’t try to stop it, and there’s a 99% chance baby girl will do well!

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: I’ve had some high numbers after lunch, even though I ate about the same as before, so I had to really cut back on carbs then. Salad with protein seems to be the way to go. The MFM specialist was overall very happy with how my numbers are doing, so it looks like I’m still off insulin for now!

Baby is the size of: a honeydew – 5 lb 11 oz by the MFM’s measurements today!

Belly pictures: Rare full-length pictures, with a dress from my favorite line – so glad it works well for maternity too! And amazed I didn’t have to have it hemmed – usually I have to for maxi’s. If I could live in this dress the rest of this pregnancy, I would – it’s that comfortable.

Total weight gain: No change from last week, currently 17.8 lbs up from pre-fertility treatment.

Stretch marks: None.

Sleep: Still only sleeping consistently 5-6 hours a night – hopefully I will get more when I’m not up late trying to catch up on work. Just have to make it through next Friday!

Symptoms/Feeling: Definitely feeling more tired earlier on in the day at work. The constipation is getting worse, despite my all-day intake of water and chia seeds. I try to tell myself it’s the closest thing to practice I can get for delivery.

Best moment of this week: Definitely the sight of her cute nose and lips from below just now!

Then followed by seeing a couple previews from our maternity photo shoot over the weekend – any doubts I had about splurging on this no longer exist, especially since she was so affordable! The photographer did an amazing job, and once she edits and processes them in a couple weeks, I’ll post the ones that keep us anonymous 🙂

Miss anything: Time and bread. I have been really craving it lately 😦

Movement: Yes, serious alien action going on around here throughout the day.

Food cravings: I want breeeeeeaaaad. And caaaaaake. And cooooookies. Lol.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing these days, thank goodness.

Labor signs: A few Braxton-Hicks.

Belly button in or out:  It looks like a very short volcano – outer skin is pooched out but the indentation is definitely still there.

Wedding rings on or off: On and loose, crazily enough.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy mostly, but I think I will be much happier once I’m done with work. At least we’re just about done interviewing for the open position and have picked somebody to make an offer to. I have my last 12-hour day tomorrow, and a 10-hour day Monday. Those will be the toughest to get through.

I’m stressing a little bit about finances, since I realized I will have more unpaid days thanks to very little sick leave left after time off for IUI’s and IVF last year. We should be fine, I just have to be extra careful about spending, especially with our largest estimated tax payment coming up in June. Unfortunately I just got word that my car brakes are on the low side, and I definitely don’t want to have to worry about that after baby girl arrives, so there goes $700.

Purchases/preparations for baby: Hubby has stuffed most everything baby-related into the future nursery, but we still need to clear out the closet and bookshelves to get everything put away. I have a baby shower at work next week, after which I plan to make all the final purchases for things we really need. Need to test out the car seat on the Baby Jogger City Mini to see if it’s easy enough to avoid buying a snap & go – I’d rather not spend that money if I can help it.

Looking forward to: A lot happening this weekend – Baby 101 class (I felt silly signing up for myself but really want hubby to go through it and of course will join him in solidarity), friend’s bridal shower, kid’s consignment store tent sale, SUP yoga class, and brunch with some girlfriends. And I wonder why I’m so behind on work and laundry…

34-week update

How far along: 34 weeks

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: Getting a sporadic high number once or twice a week, but not consistently. We’ll see how the next week goes. I see the MFM next Thursday for a growth scan, and he’ll review my log.

Baby is the size of: a canteloupe

Belly pictures: I may have to switch to just side shots alone soon since it’s getting hard to fit the belly in these side-by-side pictures!

Total weight gain: Up 0.4 lbs from last week, currently 17.8 lbs up from pre-fertility treatment. Will be interesting to see how fast the weight goes up when I stop work in a couple weeks, the OB said not to be surprised by that. I plan to stop SUP at 37 weeks, so will need to make good efforts to keep up with walking, yoga, and whatever weightlifting I still feel comfortable doing at that time. But for now, I still plan to attend SUP yoga class every weekend.

Stretch marks: Nope.

Sleep: Definitely getting tougher, I’m up 2-3 times a night to pee. Currently I’m sleeping in a modified reclined bound angle yoga pose (without the strap) so that my head and torso are elevated. Sleeping on my left hurts my shoulder after a while, and I still get a pain near my right scapula when I lay on my right – that’s how it’s been for months and it’s only getting worse as things get more cramped in there.

Symptoms/Feeling: Fatigue is starting to kick in, along with more constipation and heartburn. Overall I think I’m still doing pretty well for 34 weeks – I have energy to work out and cook, just wish that would translate to quicker charting, which I’m currently ignoring in favor of posting this 😛

Best moment of this week: Many moments, of course leading with seeing baby girl again this morning after a hiatus, and seeing that she’s in the ideal position for labor and delivery – left occiput anterior! I can deep squat to my heart’s content 🙂 And jumping off from last week’s best moment, the friends we visited had their baby this week!

Miss anything: I’m pretty sure this will be TIME for the rest of my pregnancy. Today is supposedly my day off, but I’m here at work after my appointment trying to catch up on charts before interviewing another candidate to join our group, then squeezing in a massage before we finally head to Ikea.

Movement: Lots of visible movement throughout the day, I noticed recently none of the pets really want to hang out on my lap anymore, haha.

Food cravings: Still stuff I can’t really eat much of until after delivery.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, just some heartburn if I don’t sit up straight after a meal.

Labor signs: A few Braxton-Hicks.

Belly button in or out:  I don’t know what to call it – the skin is now pooching out more often than not, but with the indentation still there in the middle. A wannabe outie?

Wedding rings on or off: On and a tiny bit tighter but still easy to move. They still come off a couple times a week for aerial yoga class, so I’m sure one day I’ll notice that I need to keep them off.

Happy or moody most of the time: Sleepy happy with a little stressy moody? I’m trying not to stress about everything that I want to get done before she arrives – as I keep reminding myself, all that REALLY needs to be set up is the pack & play, and everything else can wait if needed.

Purchases/preparations for baby: Still have 2 big piles of gifts and gear hanging out, waiting for space.

Looking forward to: We’re shooting maternity photos Saturday, pretty excited since we’re not big picture people. The only professional photos we’ve ever had done were for our wedding almost 11 years ago!

33-week update

How far along: 33 weeks – heading down to the wire!

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: The sugars are starting to creep upwards, and my carb tolerance is definitely lower. It’s getting really tough to feed myself as I’m quite hungry most of the time now. I had my first high fasting number in a very long time, but the next few days were fine, so it looks like I’m still off insulin… for now.

Baby is the size of: a pineapple

Belly pictures: Took me a while to find a chance to wear this “Due in May” shirt 🙂

Total weight gain: Up 1.6 lbs from last week, whew! The weeks of no increase were starting to worry me. Currently 17.4 lbs up from pre-fertility treatment.

Stretch marks: Nada.

Sleep: I think nesting is kicking in, because I stay up late trying to do as much as I can, then wake up before I want to ready to get going again. Unfortunately this usually means I’m pretty wiped by the end of a work day.

Symptoms/Feeling: Definitely feeling more pelvic and bladder pressure along with constipation. And I can tell my hips are looser, they feel off or a little painful when I’m getting up from bed or the couch. Starting to lose some energy, but probably because of not sleeping enough.

Best moment of this week: Visiting our friends who are expecting 3 weeks before us over the weekend. Traffic was terrible both headed there and back, but we enjoyed some delicious meals and received some interesting looks when we walked into a cocktail bar (I had a ginger beer).

Miss anything: Same as last week – I am seriously behind on charts for work, and have not made much progress today thanks to some needed errands!

Movement: She still kicks up a storm, and I was finally able to catch some of her antics on video last night. Kinda freaky!

Food cravings: Everything I can’t eat 😦

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor signs: A few Braxton-Hicks.

Belly button in or out:  Still have a significant indentation.

Wedding rings on or off: On and loose most of the time for now.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy – I can’t believe that we’ll finally be meeting our baby girl in the flesh next month!

Purchases/preparations for baby: Just ordered the crib mattress since the 20% off coupon I had was about to expire. I guess it will hang out in its packaging in the garage until hubby finally gets around to assembling the crib. We no longer need to purchase anything big at Ikea, so just really need to focus on clearing out space and setting everything up.

Looking forward to: A planned date night with dinner followed by an aerial circus show this weekend – last one for who knows how long!

32-week update

How far along: 32 weeks – I know I say it every week, but geez, where has the time flown?!

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: One REALLY high number after a dinner that included some Taiwanese sticky rice and green onion pancakes – oops! Otherwise right on target.

Baby is the size of: a bok choy

Belly pictures: The only non-maternity clothes I can wear comfortably are from my favorite LA-based clothing line. The maxi skirt also converts to a strapless dress.

Total weight gain: Imagine my shock when I still weighed the same as last week – so still 16 pounds up from pre-fertility treatment. Yikes, trying to stuff myself with as much protein and healthy fats as possible without making myself sick or making the sugars go up.

Stretch marks: Nothing yet!

Sleep: Have settled into a pattern of in bed by 11, up at 5 to pee, then waking well before my 6:45 alarm. Yes, she definitely likes to move around in the early morning :/

Symptoms/Feeling: More constipation and heartburn this week, also occasional bouts of pelvic pressure. Right hip pain starting to act up more also, I have to be very careful about staying balanced on my feet when getting out of the car.

Best moment of this week: My sister throwing me an amazing baby shower. I was overwhelmed! The onesie and animal cookies were made by her friend, and my sister made toppers for the cupcakes/bundtinis. She also made this gorgeous mobile for baby girl’s room 🙂

My friend who dealt with infertility many years ago, and who hasn’t been to a baby shower since, actually attended – she said she really wanted to be there for me, and afterwards said it wasn’t weird or upsetting at all. I nearly cried when she told me that. She included this book as part of her gift, going to need to make time to read parts of it before baby girl arrives.

2015-04-02 08.09.22

Miss anything: Still time – I am seriously behind on charts for work, and have not made much progress today thanks to some needed errands!

Movement: Still lots, and she especially likes to jam her knee/foot into my upper abdomen/lower chest and keep it there for a while. I’ve tried to gently move her, but no luck 😛

Food cravings: One of my aunts-in-law brought my favorite Vietnamese cake to my shower – I nibbled on some then, and have been rationing out a few pieces for my bedtime snack this week. I am so going to try my hand at making it when I’m GD-free!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor signs: A few Braxton-Hicks.

Belly button in or out:  Funny, it doesn’t look like it’s trying to be an outie as much as last week – thinking due to change in baby girl’s position?

Wedding rings on or off: On and loose most of the time, though by end of day they do seem a little tighter.

Happy or moody most of the time: Mixed emotions this week – just learned my coworker will be leaving our group when I start maternity leave. I will miss her dearly 😦

Purchases/preparations for baby: Scored that Tripp Trapp high chair that I posted about earlier, and gifts are still trickling in. We now have a pile in the future nursery, and another pile in the living room. Hubby said he’ll tackle the nursery closet to empty it soon so that we can finally start setting things up in there.

Looking forward to: Our quick overnight road trip this weekend to see our friend who’s due 3 weeks before me. Last trip for 3 months!

31-week update

How far along: 31 weeks – OMG only 2 months to go!

Meds: all taken daily – prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, DHA, probiotic, Levothyroxine 100 mcg

Gestational diabetes: Have had good numbers in the last week, hoping this continues!

Baby is the size of: a bunch of asparagus

Belly pictures: It hit above 90 degrees today, so glad I have this dress!

Total weight gain: No change from last week, I’m still up just 16 lbs from pre-fertility treatment weight, steady for the last 2 months since the GD diagnosis. I imagine I’ll start gaining again next week.

Stretch marks: Nada!

Sleep: Rough this week – definitely not getting to bed early enough, then waking up well before my alarm.

Symptoms/Feeling: More fatigue since not sleeping well, and more constipation starting again. The bleeding from earlier this week hasn’t reappeared, thank goodness! Started to feel more pelvic pressure for the first time today, felt like she was head-butting my bladder!

Best moment of this week: Feeling the love at my first baby shower.

Miss anything: Time – and I have a LOT of cleaning to do before my second baby shower here this weekend!

Movement: It’s really bizarre to see parts of my belly move through my clothes, especially since she’s kicking up high now.

Food cravings: Still really want sweets, but limiting them. Hopefully I don’t turn into a sugar monster after delivery!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor signs: Just the rare Braxton-Hicks and moment of pelvic pressure today.

Belly button in or out:  An innie that looks like it’s trying ever so hard to become an outie!

Wedding rings on or off: On and loose for now…

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, just wish there was more time!!

Purchases/preparations for baby: Attended the L&D tour at my hospital on Tuesday, it was packed! A little bummed to hear I can only have ice chips during labor, but oh well. Bought some new in box Evenflo glass bottles at a local kids’ consignment store today for half off. Will definitely head back there for future purchases to fill in the gaps after the showers – they had a good selection of everything!

Looking forward to: My big baby shower this weekend – my female in-laws, closest coworkers, and friends will all be here. My sister’s shown me the cookie favors and some of the decorations, and they are really awesome! Now to just get the house presentable!
